About Josie

5 years experience as REALTOR®

I’m a realtor because the job is challenging, always changing, and complex. But the seed of reality that keeps me passionate about the profession is in matching people with property— an incredibly enriching experience. My experience expertise is with sellers who need help to move to the next level, first-time home buyers, and commercial development. Land market valuation is my educational expertise.

Bio:

Josie grew up in Mayo Yukon on a homestead with five siblings in a cabin with no running water or electricity. “We filled the lamps and lanterns with jet fuel from the 45-gallon drum tipped on its side and hauled water from the Stewart river summer and winter. I was always hauling wood, chopping kindling, and feeding the animals, it seems”, she says. However, as Josie grew, she dreamed of living in modern home designs with beautiful, ideal living spaces, and at the age of 13, she designed her first house. Hence real estate became her profession years later.

Josie is married, has five children of her own and a blended family of nine. She is a certified Yukon teacher and entrepreneur.

Continued Education:

Josie studied and researched how to value First Nations Lease Land Titles and wrote an MBA thesis from Royal Roads University specific to building a lease land market in Whitehorse Yukon. The specificity of which is a brand-new tenure model – KDFN settlement land marketable at the Yukon Land Title Office. The RE/MAX® brokerage was chosen to see this project to fruition and so being a REALTOR® and a person of knowledge, Josie was invited to join RE/MAX® to facilitate this intricate sales process – “A privilege”, Josie says, “of which I am honoured.”

Other Education:

  • Electronics Technologist diploma: Automation and Process Control: British Columbia Institute of Technology
  • Bachelor of Education: Certified Yukon Teacher with Yukon First Nation Cultural designation: University of Regina / Yukon College
  • Masters of Business Administration in Executive Management and Innovation: Royal Roads University.
